$$$ and poems and Olbermann

Reading tonight with Michael Dumanis and John Gallaher at U. of Akron, 7:30, at the Martin Center. Looking forward to it. Check out Gallaher's post on why we write.

It's 4 am and I'm watching the financial news. I am glad my father is not around to see this. He was a stockbroker--a quiet one, with a couple blue-chip clients who bought blue-chip stock "before the war," meaning WWII. No junk bonds, no hedge funds, no computers, even. My sister and I would run to the bus stop to meet him at the end of the day and ask, "Did the market go up or down today?"

We had no idea what the market was...

And no, any financial savvy my father may have had did not rub off.
