"shaggy muses"

To paraphrase Emily Dickinson:

"Zinc is dead--will you instruct me now?"

The jumpy pup I rescued from the County pound 12 years ago died suddenly yesterday morning. She was named Zinc because of the unusual metallic color of her fur. Both her eyes were blue and brown, blue on top in one, brown on top in the other. Everyone deserves a Zinc in their lives.

I hope she does not rest in peace. I hope she's animating some heaven somewhere.

Jeez Amy that's a real punch in the gut. I got a little weepy with this one too. How about you Salinger?

for the first six years of my life i was convinced i was a great dane. we have always been a dog household. losing a friend is tough no matter the species.

in a lot of ways - dogs are better companions than people. sorry for your loss amy.

i'm sorry to hear about your losing zinc. i lost an 18 year old kitty a couple of years ago and it still expect him to jump in bed with me some mornings. i'm sure zinc had an amazing life with you.

Thank you my friends. Why Zinc and not my 14-year-old, deaf, blind, smelly, frail and demented shepherd? Only the dog god knows.

News flash Salinger: you ARE a Great Dane...

Amy, I am so sorry to hear this news of Zinc. It is only in these past years that I have grown to understand the love we can have for dogs. Most days I think there is not anything more pure. I am really sorry. If there is anything I can do, please let me know.
